BINDER GmbH is expanding its product range of environmental simulation chambers for carrying out material load tests. All the MKF and MKFT-series dynamic climate chambers are now available with the optional controlled dry-air purge function for meeting the standards required by the automotive industry.

 

Tuttlingen, Germany - March 2016: Standards and standardized testing specifications are in place in the modern automotive industry to guarantee the safety and quality of the entire production process.  Automobile components are subjected to demanding load testing to determine the resistance and carrying capacity of materials and molded parts in terms of weather factors, temperature, and temperature shifts. BINDER GmbH, the world's largest specialist in simulation chambers for scientific and industrial laboratories, has now expanded its product portfolio of environmental simulation chambers for carrying out material load tests. All the MKF and MKFT -series climate chambers are now available with the optional controlled dry-air purge function for meeting the standards required by the automotive industry. Even difficult test scenarios, such as the PV 2005 and PV 1200 VW standards for cyclical climate change tests, can be carried out with ease. These accelerated short-term tests with time-lapse effect assess the behavior of test parts in terms of deformation, debonding, and cracking in changes in temperature and humidity. The PR 308.2 testing standard required by BMW for the climatic testing of adhesive bonds to equipment parts can also be met with ease. The expanded climate range enables climate values such as 10°C and 5 percent RH or 0°C and 10 percent RH. This is possible because dew points of as low as -28°C can be achieved. The specified humidity values are achieved quickly and maintained precisely. This allows possible weaknesses to be detected at any early stage with the result that costly failures or even image-damaging product recalls can be avoided. In addition, the tests can be reproduced at any time.

Alongside environmental simulation chambers with dry-air purge, BINDER offers other specialized units for dynamic climate profiles in various temperature ranges. Units without humidification systems are also available. Additionally, units in all product lines can be modified by BINDER to suit any special customer requirements.

 

MKF/MKFT with dry-air purge to simulate current automobile industry standards 

 

As of March 1, 2016, all MKF and MKFT units with the dry-air purge option are now suitable for simulating the automobile industry standards PV 1200, PV 2005, and PR 308.2.

* According to PV 1200, the cool-down and heat-up phases may vary according to the performance of the respective climate chamber. The cool-down phases of the MKF with dry-air purge increase in accordance with the standard:
1.            By 50 minutes on the MKF 115
2.            By 30 minutes in each case for the MKF 240 and MKF 720.

However, by programming the cool-down phase accordingly – for example, in 2 ramps with different degrees of steepness – it is still possible to comply with the 2-hour cooling down time (as stated in PV 1200).
