This year, around 700 young talents from across the globe entered the first round of the competition digitally. Thirty of them were then invited to Bolzano, where they showcased their artistry in front of an audience and an expert jury. In the grand finale, the top three performed with a full orchestra for the coveted Busoni Prize. Far more than a contest, the Busoni Piano Competition is an international stage for excellence, musical precision, and true dedication.
BINDER supports young talents
Sponsoring the Audience Award at this prestigious competition is no coincidence. At BINDER, we are deeply committed to supporting young people on their educational and professional journeys. Music and technology share a common foundation: both demand precision, excellence, and an unwavering commitment to the highest quality.
Just as a piano embodies intricate mechanics and masterful craftsmanship, our climate chambers reflect the same spirit. Building an instrument requires meticulous attention to detail, expertise, and passion — just like developing our technology. In both worlds, it is this blend that transforms skill into true excellence. That is what connects BINDER with the Busoni Piano Competition: the drive to give your best in every moment.
Celebrating this year’s winners
This year’s competition celebrated three extraordinary young artists. First prize was awarded to 25-year-old Yifan Wu from China for his inspiring performance of Piano Concerto No. 3 (Beethoven). He also received the Audience Award, which was presented to him in person by Peter M. Binder.
Second place went to Sandro Nebieridze from Georgia for his interpretation of Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, while Christos Fountos from Greece took third place with Piano Concerto No. 1 (Rachmaninoff).
All three have already attracted international attention and are considered rising stars destined for the world’s great concert stages.
Precision as a unifying element
Being part of this exceptional competition was a true honor for BINDER. Because in both music and technology, the goal is the same: to achieve peak performance — driven by passion, discipline, and precision. The Busoni Piano Competition brings these values to life through music, making it the perfect stage to showcase what BINDER stands for.
