Drying and sterilizing in a nutshell

BINDER drying and heating chambers with gravity convection and mechanical convection

Tuttlingen - Whether it's for heating, aging, or storage, the drying and heating chambers from Binder's ED, FD, and FED series offer plenty of freedom to suit even the most diverse applications. In fact, the chambers are suitable for use anywhere from the chemicals, electronics, and automotive industries right through to food and drink, building, pharmaceuticals, and even cosmetics applications. With a temperature range from around +10°C above ambient temperature to +300°C, the chambers really do offer maximum flexibility. Choose between a drying oven with gravity convection from the ED series or perhaps one with mechanical convection from the FD/FED series – it all depends on the type of the materials you're using. If you're looking for a gentle drying process or using products and materials that are sensitive to drafts, then drying ovens with gravity convection are what you need. Drying processes that rely on mechanical convection, on the other hand, run much more efficiently and involve a particularly high rate of air exchange. The air flow can be customized to suit using fans with electronically adjustable speeds and a mechanically adjustable exhaust air flap. And this is precisely how the APT.line TM air control system ensures even temperature distribution in the inner chamber and guarantees homogeneous temperature conditions throughout the test specimens. The chambers themselves boast a short heating up time and rapid recovery time after opening the doors. And with 60 mm thick insulation and hermetic door closures, you know you can rely on maximum energy efficiency. The inner chamber is made of high-quality stainless steel and has no permanent fixtures, making it especially easy to clean. Racks with tilt protection also simplify the processes of loading and unloading the chambers.

Temperature under control

The settings for accurate drying temperatures and times are made using a controller and appear on an LED display. You can even use the integrated timer to set up delayed activation of the start and stop functions. What's more, the controller has its own temperature-dependent stop function and a Class 2 (DIN 12880) independent adjustable temperature safety device with a visual temperature alarm.

Options and individual adjustments

BINDER offers a wide range of additional options and individual adjustments to suit customer-specific requirements. The option is available, for example, to order units that come with a viewing window and interior lighting, while a lockable door handle can protect the specimens from unauthorized access. If users are interested in taking targeted measurements of individual specimens, then they can even request an access port with various diameters and silicone plugs. Depending on the model selected, the chambers either come complete with an RS 422 interface or are capable of being upgraded with one. This interface is used to transfer and save data to the BINDER APT.COMTM Data Control System, or – alternatively – the communication system can be expanded to include the Data Logger Kit and Logger software. The spatial temperature accuracy is measured according to DIN 12880 as standard, although the measuring points can be extended if a specific calibration certificate is required. The range is completed by a further selection of reinforced or perforated racks in either chrome-plated or stainless steel designs. If customers are looking for a special solution to suit their applications, then the chambers can be individually adapted to their needs in collaboration with the BINDER INDIVIDUAL department.
